Exploring Underwater Gardens

Bali has plenty of water activities for you to experience. Exploring underwater gardens is the kind of activity you will savour.

Reef Seen Divers’ Resort is located in in northwest Bali, on beautiful Pemuteran Bay, the gateway to the area’s diving and the Menjangan Island Marine Reserve. The Reef Gardeners are a team of young people recruited from various fishing organizations in Pemuteran and trained to maintain and protect the reefs of Pemuteran Bay.

Reef Seen, established in 1991 by Australian Chris Brown, is the pioneer dive operator which discovered, named and began the protection of most of the reefs in the area. Reef Seen is eco- friendly and deeply involved in the community, helping to found Proyek Penyu (turtle hatchery), the Reef Seen Dancers, which is helping to keep the traditional Legong dance alive, and The Reef Gardeners. In conjunction with the Reef Seen Dive centre, they have enhanced several reefs in Pemuteran Bay with underwater sculpture gardens. Taman Pura – the Temple Garden – was created in 2005 and has become part of the coral landscape. An engineering feat with more than 10 large stone statues resting on stone plinths and a four-metre-high Balinese candi bentar gate, it sits at around a depth of 30 metres, suitable for divers with advanced or deep diver training. In 2006, a second stage of the Temple Garden was constructed at a depth of 15 metres to allow less experienced divers explore the location. The garden is situated at the base of a rock/coral wall covered in gorgonian fans and must be seen to be believed.
