Immersed in a winter wonderland of soft powdery snow and coniferous trees, Aman Le Mélézin is set directly on the Bellecôte Piste above Courchevel 1850 in the Alp’s legendary Les Trois Vallées region. With unparalleled ski-in/ski-out facilities providing access to over 600km of impeccably groomed ski slopes, Aman Le Mélézin offers the finest European ski experience possible.
Open from mid-December to April each year, Aman Le Mélézin is dedicated to ensuring its guests get the most out of the winter months. A refined sanctuary inspired by the timeless serenity of the mountains, the hotel has provided an elegant yet relaxed home away from home with a calm and convivial atmosphere since its launch in December 1992. Aided by a team of experienced Ski Butlers who transport toasty ski equipment from the heated racks in the state-of-the-art ski room to the piste, skiing at Aman Le Mélézin is performed with effortless ease.
Aman Le Mélézin also offers plenty of other ways to experience the fairytale snowscape it inhabits – both active and more sedentary – as well as cultural, culinary and wellness pursuits both indoors and out. For those looking for outdoor alternatives to skiing or snowboarding, Aman Le Mélézin can arrange exhilarating self-piloted dog sledding at Méribel, half- or full-day guided snowshoeing or trekking expeditions into rarely visited areas with expert guides, as well as tobogganing or sledging day and night, and ice-skating. For a breathtaking aerial view of the region, guests can take a scenic helicopter flight over the Haute Tarentaise Mountain Range or around Mont Blanc or go hot-air ballooning at sunrise.
Aman Le Mélézin itself is as much of an attraction as the scenery providing its exquisite backdrop. Completely refurbished in 2016 when all 31 rooms and suites were upgraded – several with outdoor hot-tubs – Aman Le Mélézin celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017 with the further addition of a new 767-square metre holistic Aman Spa and the launch of Nama, a restaurant celebrating finely crafted Japanese cuisine.
Comprising two entire floors of the four-storey property, the destination Aman Spa is an oasis of tranquility and rejuvenation. Five spacious treatment rooms include two double suites and one signature Thai massage suite, while a traditional Turkish hammam is perfect for soothing hot stone massages and energising Himalayan salt scrub experiences. The expansive yoga studio includes TRX equipment and is complemented by a fitness studio, a relaxation lounge and extensive hydrotherapy areas, including a 14-metre indoor lap pool, experiential showers, a cold plunge pool and a wooden sauna.
The spa menu has been carefully curated to offer treatments that provide nourishing heat and moisture following exposure to the wind and cold. For complete indulgence, the Signature Spa Journey combines dry brushing to boost circulation, a tension-releasing hot stone and oil massage, and a calming facial designed specially to counter the Alpine elements.
Both guests of Aman Le Mélézin and non-residents are warmly welcomed to Nama, the hotel’s exceptional Japanese restaurant. Under the guidance of Master Chef Keiji Matoba, Nama serves authentic washoku cuisine including sushi, sashimi and signature dishes such as succulent wagyu beef and otoro tuna. The menu also features a range of warming ramen dishes, each made with a hearty shoyu (soy sauce), shio (salt) or miso (soybean) base.
Other areas in which to unwind include the sun terrace just a glide away from the boutiques and restaurants of chic Courchevel 1850, the hotel’s cosy library and the elegant bar off the main dining room. Younger guests aged 3 to 15 are also fully catered for, with three chalets housing the Children’s Club. Here they can enjoy arts and crafts, a variety of games, and interactive cooking demonstrations, as well as hot chocolate and healthy meals until 10pm.
Whether a winter sports enthusiast or for those simply wanting to enjoy the magical wonderland that encompasses Aman Le Mélézin and its glorious and indulgent spa, an enchanting array of activities awaits. For those who can’t ski, won’t ski and don’t ski, Aman Le Mélézin is also the answer.
