A Zen-like atmosphere and laid-back vibe greeted us as we entered OKU, its interior dominated by wood features and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a serene Japanese-style garden with private rooms and a bar. This new dining venue, with its tranquil ambience and ideal setting in the heart of the capital, is perfect for business lunches, special occasions or memorable dinners.

The innovative OKU menu has been carefully crafted by Chef Kazumasa Yazawa. We started with the Karasumi Pasta with Bottarga and Red caviar, followed by Green Salad. For the mains, we started with the Salmon Confit in Teriyaki Sauce, with beautifully crafted pickles shaped as flowers. The beautifully cooked salmon melted in our mouth. For the second course, we had the Truffle Gyudon, the juicy beef complemented perfectly by black truffle sauce in runny onsen egg. Little wonder this is one of OKU’s most popular dishes.

Another highlight is the OKU Karaage, four pieces of deep-friend chicken thighs sprinkled with shichimi is uber delicious and will leave you wanting more. There is also a choice of delectable desserts, from assorted chocolates to the Yuki cake plate and colourful Granite popsicles. With a perfect combination of excellent dishes, innovative cocktails and sophisticated ambience, OKU is exceptional and has quickly gained a reputation as a premium dining destination in Jakarta.
