Aman Le Mélézin re-opened following a comprehensive eight-month refurbishment including the renovation of 19 rooms and suites. A new piste facing bar, a reconfigured entrance area, reception and restaurant will also be unveiled.
Located on Bellecoôte Piste, Courchevel, perched 1,850 metres above sea level in the heart of Les Trois Vallées, Aman Le Mélézin’s location is one of the most desirable in Courchevel, offering guests the advantages of ski-in, ski-out and spectacular views across the mountains. Since its opening in 1992 the resort has provided guests with a refined and elegant home away from home with a calm and convivial atmosphere, enabling guests to unwind and relax following a day spent on the slopes.
The extensive refurbishment, undertaken to enhance the guest experience whilst maintaining the spirit and charm of the traditional French château intended by Ed Tuttle 25 years ago, will present 19 renovated Chambres and Suites, completing the hotel’s accommodation refresh following the refurbishment of 12 ‘Chambre Ski Piste’ rooms in 2014. The Chambres and Suites feature entirely new interiors, from carpet to ceiling including customised furniture. An alpine inspired palette has been used to bring the scenery inside, featuring natural materials such as oak and Avorio, a light beige stone in the bathrooms to create a soft and natural feel. For added comfort, subtle under floor heating and Japanese toilets have also been installed in the bathrooms.
Two of the ‘Chambre Ski Piste’ and one ‘Suite Ski Piste’ each features a large terrace and a private, hot-tub made from red cedar wood. With views out across the slopes and surrounding mountains, the authentic barrel tubs are the perfect place to reside with an après ski drink.
The bar has been relocated to the west side of the hotel, ideally positioned to capture views across the slopes at sunset. Large windows open out to the newly extended south facing terrace perfectly framing views of the piste, where Aman Le Mélézin’s signature ‘Mélézin Cocktail’ made with local blueberries, violet flower extract and a generous dose of champagne, can be enjoyed whilst savouring the alpine surroundings. The Cigar Lounge, located next to the bar features a selection of books, fine whiskeys, cognacs and cosy leather club chairs, providing guests with a low-key ambiance where they can relax in front of a fire with a hand-rolled cigar from Aman Le Mélézin’s sister property Amanera in the Dominican Republic.
Additional aspects of the refurbishment include an expansion of the restaurant and terrace, a reconfigured entrance, where a new long glass corridor enclosed with wood latticework will lead to the reception and concierge desks. Aged oak panels and sculptures designed by revered sculptor Roseline Granet also features throughout the property.
Stocked with the latest ski equipment to buy or rent, a particular highlight to note is Aman Le Mélézin’s ski room. Here, guests are eased into warm ski boots, provided with a bottle of water and have their skis laid out onto the slopes by a personal attendant.
Equipped with an indoor pool, Jacuzzis, hammam and four treatment rooms, the spa at Aman Le Mélézin is the perfect way to rejuvenate after a day on the slopes. The treatments focus on restoration and provide nourishing heat and moisture to sooth aching muscles. Treatments include massages, facials and specialised foot and hand therapies.
The closest airport to Aman Le Mélézin is Chambéry, approximately 90minutes by car, whilst Geneva and Lyon airports are also within easy reach, with a transfer time of roughly two hours 30 minutes’ drive.
