Comfort and culturally rich offerings sum up the COMO Uma Ubud experience.
Developed by COMO Hotels and Resorts, Uma (“living house” in Indonesian) properties are located in unspoilt, inland locations. They are also ecologically aware. Every aspect of COMO Uma resort is infused with indigenous attributes, from design to cuisine to local staff knowledge. The intention is to immerse guests in the textural richness of the resort’s carefully chosen region; from culture to religion to landscape, offering the dual experience of escape and adventure.
At COMO Uma Ubud, the 46 rooms and suites of our luxury Bali hotel exude the charm of a traditional Indonesian village even as they cosset guests in sleek, light-filled spaces with all the conveniences and comforts of a modern resort. Entirely residential in feeling, Uma Ubud has the atmosphere of a rural hillside home. Narrow paths defined by tall, lushly planted walls lead between rooms and suites, each of which have their own tropical garden. Large windows and indigenous materials both inside and out bring the natural landscape in, from the amply sized bedrooms and black-and-white bathrooms to the landscaped courtyards and infinity-edged plunge pools.
At COMO Uma Ubud cuisine is considered a crucial element of the guest experience. The name of the resort’s restaurant, Kemiri, means “candlenut” and was designed to include an open-air space and can seat up to 70, both covered and uncovered, in addition to an intimate private dining bale for 12. Menus display a rigorous reliance on seasonal ingredients from local suppliers and showcase Bali’s rich gourmet heritage alongside other Asian cuisines. The results are healthful and original.
In recognition of Bali’s powerful spirituality, COMO Uma Ubud has developed the impressive COMO Shambhala Retreat, designed for guests seeking greater health through yoga and related treatments. The open-air pavilion for group and private yoga practice has the best views in all the resort and there is also a meditation bale, a reflexology area, steam, sauna, gym, four treatment rooms and a 25-metre jade-green pool. And keeping with the Uma philosophy of immersing guests in the local culture and landscape, Uma Ubud provides intelligent access to the different layers that make up island life, from temple, gallery and museum visits to more physical excursions including walking, trekking, white-water rafting and mountain biking in the Balinese countryside.
