In a big city like Jakarta, things move quickly and sometimes it is impossible to get out of town for some rest and rejuvenation because of too little time and too much work. Worry not, amidst the hustle and bustle of Jakarta is an oasis for a good night’s stay and the perfect destination for a weekend escape without have to go far from home.
Ideally located in Central Jakarta, just a few minutes’ drive from the central business and famous shopping district, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jakarta – Diponegoro offers a memorable weekend staycation for those looking for a quick escape from the pressures of Jakarta.
Here is what we did during our fantastically refreshing stay. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with a welcome cookie instead of welcome drinks, mouth-watering indulgence of chocolate and peanut goodness. Things were definitely off to a good start. After the satisfying snack, we headed to our room on 12th floor, the Hilton HHonors floor. We were staying in a Deluxe Suite, a large space with separate living room and bedroom. The spacious bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom, dominated by elegant white marble, with his and hers washbasins, rain shower and bathtub. The room also has its own balcony and small pantry adjacent to the living room. We freshened up a bit before heading down for lunch.
Open Restaurant, the all-day dining buffet restaurant located on the ground floor, offers an impressive selection of food, from Western to Indonesian dishes, including sushi and sashimi, grilled blackpepper crayfish, gado-gado and so much more. After a delicious lunch, we could not wait to plunge into the large outdoor lagoon-style swimming pool. Relaxing on the floats by the pool is just what I needed to unwind and forget about another busy week. You can indulge yourself with a freshly made milkshake or ice cream with choice of toppings from the colourful soda parlour-themed island bar located in the centre of the pool. I chose the cold fresh fruit from the bar to go with the sunny day.
After a good splash at the pool, we headed to the Executive Lounge on the 17th floor for afternoon cocktails before dinner. My colleague and I had a good talk over wine, cocktails and tapas. For dinner, we headed to Sea Grain Restaurant and Bar on the 3rd floor. This modern casual dining venue has indoor and outdoor seating areas and a bar with beautiful views of city skyline, which is perfect as a place to chill after dinner. We had a delicious Octopus Salad and Pomelo Salad for starters, followed by Rendang Lasagne and Steamed Seabass with Buttersauce for the main course, accompanied by fresh sangria. I love how they mixed a Mediterranean-inspired menu with local dishes, all created with super-fresh ingredients, creating a deliciously unique flavour that will make you crave more.
The next day, we headed to the Spa after breakfast to work out any remaining kinks. I chose the 60-minute Natural Healing Relaxing Spa Massage to ease those sore muscles. The Spa has three massage rooms in total, all with a couple’s bed, bathroom and large Jacuzzi. After the refreshing massage session, we checked out at noon and left DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jakarta – Diponegoro feeling amazing in body and mind, newly recharged to face the coming week.
Tips: Upgrade to an executive room or suite for wonderful city views and access to the Executive Lounge, the Rendang Lasagne is a must-try dish at Sea Grain Restaurant, and last but not least, floats are available to borrow if you want to relax at the swimming pool – just ask for one.
