The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah has now opened in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, one of the country’s most beautiful atolls. Adjacent to The Residence by Cenizaro’s first Maldives property, The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi, the two resorts are connected by a bridge, the first of its kind, which allows guests to travel between the two with ease.
Situated just 55-minutes by domestic plane from nearby Kooddoo island, followed by a five-minute speedboat, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah is a 2km long island of lush vegetation and soft, white- sand beaches.
Designed to enhance and complement its sister island, the resort offers guests additional spacious villas, a Spa by Clarins, Beach Club, diverse dining, water sports, dive centre, Kids Club, bespoke wellness programmes and more. Offering all-inclusive stays, and boasting access to two additional castaway islands for day trips, a stay at Dhigurah allows guests to experience four islands throughout their stay, even if only staying on one.
Bridging the gap
The longest private bridge in the Maldives to connect two islands, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah’s 1km bridge spans across both resorts, allowing guests to travel between the two whenever they choose. Jump on a golf buggy with a friendly member of the hotel team or cycle along in the sunshine on a blue bicycle to match the sapphire ocean – provided as complimentary for every guest at Dhigurah. Enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and watch fish and baby black tip sharks swim underneath.
A completely private villa experience
Sprawled across the island, 173 Beach, Lagoon and Water Villas overlook the dappled turquoise waters of the ocean, with both sunrise and sunset views. Each Villa has its own private pool and decking, indoor and outdoor shower, deep bathtub and king size bed. Villas are designed with plenty of natural light which blends the beauty of traditional Maldivian architecture with contemporary flair. Perfect for larger groups, Dhigurah offers more two-bedroom Beach and Water Villas, each equipped with large spaces to socialise including dining table, living room and spacious decking, sleeping up to 6 adults per villa if needed.
An all-inclusive getaway
The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah is an all-inclusive resort meaning guests have access to all six restaurants and six bars across both Dhigurah and Falhumaafushi, creating a two-island inclusive experience. New restaurants include all-day dining at The Dining Room, the resorts’ beachfront restaurant, offering international cuisine and delicious local dishes; Li Bai, the sister of celebrated sister restaurant in Singapore, serving exquisite classic Cantonese dishes, from delicate dumplings to tasty stir-fried dishes; for dazzling sunsets, sharing plates and cocktails, guests can head to Long Island; or alternatively Mediterranean tapas and poolside lunches are served up at Café del Sol at The Beach Club. Paddle boarding, Kayaking, windsurfing and other non-motorised sports are also included, as well as access to the spa, fitness centre and Turtle Kids Club.
A local spa experience
The Spa by Clarins, only the second in the Maldives after Falhumaafushi, features 10 round, thatched- roof over-water pavilions, with panoramic backdrops of the Indian Ocean and the lagoon. Each pavilion is equipped for singles and couples alike, offering an array of holistic and Ayurvedic treatments for mind, body and soul including a hair and beauty salon, nail spa, male and female treatments, yoga pavilion and fitness centre.
The neighbouring herb garden has been specially designed for the spa, housing fresh herbs and spices, picked by the therapists and used in the treatments, meaning all Asian treatments are infused with the most local ingredients. Guests can enrol in a series of new wellness retreats introduced at Dhigurah, lasting one to five days in length, focusing on different aspects of wellbeing from detox, de-stress, fitness, sleep and digital detox.
Private castaway islands & bespoke experiences
From castaway experiences, underwater weddings and personal photoshoots, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah offers an array of bespoke experiences for guests. Between the two resorts, next to the bridge, lies a sandy castaway island – easily accessible by ladder – where guests can sit on their own private sunbed, enjoy a BBQ or relax with an evening cocktail. Exclusively for guests at Dhigurah, a second castaway island is just a 10-minute speedboat ride away and is complimentary to guests, with food and drinks at an additional cost. A personalised service, guests are provided with a phone and can arrange to be dropped and collected when they choose.
Activities for all ages
One of the largest in the southern atoll, families with children can take advantage of the Turtle Kids Club that offers daily recreational activities and educational excursions tailored for younger guests aged 3 to 12, as well as babysitting services. Activities include nature walks and beach games, to arts and crafts.
For the adventurous adults, try aerial yoga classes at the outdoor yoga pavilion, challenge yourself to a floating HIIT or floating yoga class at the Beach Club pool, push fitness levels with a private personal training session at the fitness centre and more.
