InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza takes great pleasure to host a goodwill gathering on Thursday, 26 July 2012 in the Grand Ballroom for children of the Putra Nusa Orphanage and Syair.org. This is annual celebration for the children to break the fast at the hotel during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Over the past three years, InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza has forged a strong relationship with Putra Nusa Orphanage under its current Corporate Social Responsibility programme. InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza has done the refurbishment of the Putra Nusa Putri Orphanage from uncomfortable atmosphere become a comfortable area with an appropriate plan has been realised by providing good bed for this orphanage beginning of this year. In cooperation with Corden Tennis Academy and under the guidance of PTR certified Tennis Coach, Mr. James Corden Lloyd, the hotel has given complimentary tennis lesson for 7 (seven) boys from Putra Nusa Putra Orphanage in order for the chidren to have a basic tennis skill to be used in the future.
As part of continuous support to the orpahange, the hotel has created a new charity initiative with Putra Nusa Orphanage. Each time the guest purchase the box decorated by the children with the products such as sliced cake, donuts, muffins and cup cakes, the guest has supported the orphanage with Rp. 10.000,- (ten thousand rupiah) per box. The collected funds was doubled by the Hotel and donated during this Breakfasting event with the total amount of Rp. 5.000.000,- (five million rupiah).
This event enlivened by quiz and giveaways for the children. Invited guests, members of the media, and the children entertained by Daud Sakty and Roni from Romance Band. For the opening session, Syair. Org give a short presentation about their vision and mission. Not to be missed, the children from Putra Nusa Putri Orphanage perform as their appreciation for being invited and Ustadz Abi present spiritual lecturers prior the time to break the fast together.
Putra Nusa Putra & Putri was established in 1958 as a non-profit organisation concerned about thewelfare of boys and girls between the ages of 7-17 years old. It provides education, skill activity andshelter in a home environment for underpriviledged children who are without parents or have beenabandoned by extended family members. The orphanage relies on financial support from thecommunity to covers its daily operational costs.
Syair.Org is a social organization which started from a published book that concern to HIV and AIDS,written by Yudhi F. Oktaviadhi (Journalist) and released in 2008 in Jakarta.This organization take care and teach the children who has HIV and AIDS, which is not from theirmistake. They need our concern, so that they can live independently and has a hope in their life.
