Jakarta’s Newest Destination Restaurant Offers Authentic Gourmet Cuisine and Ideal Setting

The Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection® Hotel located in the heart of Indonesia’s vibrant capital city of Jakarta, is pleased to announce the opening of Bengawan restaurant.  A captivating restaurant with an Indonesian-inspired menu and an ideal indoor-outdoor setting overlooking the Jalan Thamrin, Bengawan is an exceptional dining experience with wide appeal for guests, international visitors and upscale locals.

Bengawan is a delightful feast for the senses with its beautiful contemporary design and selection of authentic Indonesian favorites.  It’s the perfect destination for a business meal with associates, a cozy romantic dinner, or Sunday brunch with friends and family.

A 5-Star Epicurean Exploration of Indonesia
Located on the seventh level of the Keraton building, and named for the Javanese word for “river,” Bengawan is a spacious indoor-outdoor restaurant with lush, green foliage, soothing water features, and outdoor seating on the balcony with spectacular views of Jakarta below.  Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including Sunday Brunch, Bengawan features a customized menu of both a la carte items and a sumptuous buffet accompanied by an extensive wine list with international labels.  The menu utilizes fresh, local produce and seafood along with the highest quality of beef imported daily from Australia and the United States.

Breakfast offerings include an extensive buffet of Indonesian, Asian and Western favorites, along with a menu of made-to-order hot items and freshly baked bread and pastries.  Lunch and dinner offerings include Indonesian signature dishes such as Iga Bakar, grilled premium spare ribs with konro broth, sambal balado and steamed rice; Pindang Udang, jumbo prawn stew with pineapple and steamed rice; and Bebek Goreng, marinated fried duck with sambal goring and steamed rice.

Homestyle favorites include Sop Buntut, the famed Indonesian oxtail soup; Sop Konro, Makassar spare rib soup; Ayam Bakar, grilled chicken with lalapan and sambal goring; and Soto Batavia, beef in coconut broth. Grilled selections include Australian Beef Wagyu; USDA Prime Sirloin; Australian Angus Ribeye; Wheatgrass Rack of Lamb; Wagyu Beef Burger; and Tasmanian Salmon.
