Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta’s commitment to green projects and initiatives has not gone unnoticed. Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta has been awarded a Green Hotel Award by Minister of Tourism Arif Yahya during the World Tourism Day celebrations, for its consistent efforts in implementing environmentally friendly initiatives and practices in the hotel and community.
This is the hotel’s second international nomination for the same award. The hotel will also be representing Indonesia at the ASEAN Green Hotel Awards in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2018.
“We are honoured and humbled that our hotel has been recognized in this manner. This prestigious recognition is truly the result of the commitment and professionalism of all our associates in ensuring that environmental practices and energy conservation are demonstrated around the 22-hectare hotel (and in the surrounding villages) every day, by creating and maintaining public gardens as well as engaging and educating the youth in school on environmental issues and best practices,” said Nurcahyadhi, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta.
“Promoting responsible environmental behaviour is not limited to our associates and guests, but also extended to the associates’ families. We actively encourage everyone to take part in events such as Earth Hour and the annual Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Run. We believe that together we can make a difference. It is our goal to be able to further contribute to providing a sustainable business environment, better quality of life and advancement of the communities that we serve,” he continued.
The award recognizes outstanding commitments to environmental sustainability management, energy conservation, waste management, locally-sourced sustainable food and beverages, education and awareness activities for all associates as well as community engagement. Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is ranked #1 out of ten hotels.
