Chinese New Year, also known as the “Spring Festival”. In modern China, is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional Chinese calendar. According to the Chinese 12-year animal zodiac cycle, the Chinese year beginning in 2018 is the year of the Dog. This year, Chinese New Year will be happening on Friday, 16 February 2018.

To celebrate the year of The Dog, Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort held a charity program called 99 Project. There are 99 Maneki-Neko figurines that believed to bring good luck to the owner. It is also sometimes called the “Chinese lucky cat” due to its popularity among Chinese merchants. All proceeds of these figurines will go to Bali Rumah Singgah Satwa (BaliRuSS), that currently handling the abandoned animals from Mount Agung. At the moment they have a base camp in Padang Bai where all of the Mount Agung animal rescue activities are coordinated. At the same place they also set up a shelter that can accommodate puppies (medium size breed like Bali dogs up to about 6 months old), small dogs, and cats.
