Returning for its second year, the mega 3-in-1 Festival of Fun rings in the March school holidays with three pillars of fun comprising Magners International Comedy Festival, Nickelodeon Fiesta and Clarke Quay StreetFest from 8-18 March.
This year’s line-up is even bigger and better than before, promising absolutely the most top-notch entertainment for the whole family.
The festival welcomes acts from UK’s famed Covent Garden street theatre, well-loved characters from Nickelodeon and award-winning comedians from around the world. Audiences can look forward to taking part in the festivities and at the same time dine at the numerous food and beverage establishments within Clarke Quay.
Magners International Comedy Festival 8-11 March
The fun starts with the 5th edition of Magners International Comedy Festival on 8 – 11 March. Fans of comedy will be impressed with top-billing acts such as critically acclaimed Doug Stanhope from the US, UK’s Best Newcomer to Comedy 2016 Yuriko Kotani, Jim Brewski (winner of Hong Kong’s 2014 International Comedy Competition), and Canadian Brian Aylward who is a regular in Bangkok’s comedy circuit.
Singaporean comedians Samuel See, recently seen on Channel 5’s Ok! Chope will represent the Singapore versus Malaysia portion of the festival; together with Fakka Fuzz who has a highly anticipated debut on Neflix titled Almost Banned, and Deepak Chandran who has been touring Asia with his brand of local culture musings. They will pit their wits against Malaysia’s best – Kavin Jay and Sulaimon Azmil, both notorious for their rip-roaring jokes on Malaysian culture.
Nickelodeon Fiesta: 10 & 11 March 2018
Back for the second time in the Singapore Festival of Fun, the two-day Nickelodeon Fiesta is built on the heritage theme in line with Clarke Quay’s rich history and celebrates the local passion for food. The event will feature:
· Nine food-themed game booths where participants stand to be rewarded with limited edition Nickelodeon collectibles!
· Stage games and photo opportunities with all-time favourite Nickelodeon characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and one of the world’s hottest preschool shows, PAW Patrol.
· A “Nickelodeon Trail” where kids and their family will get to discover the heritage of well-known local delights.
Clarke Quay StreetFest 13-18 March
The Singapore Festival of Fun is thrilled to welcome the very best global street performers from London’s Covent Garden to Singapore for the first time. Both the young and old can gather around Clarke Quay’s Fountain Square to witness the 5-day showcase of jaw-dropping feats and stellar entertainment, which features a mix of acrobatics, escapology and dare devil acts.
Get ready to watch contortionist Bendy Em twist and turn her body to squeeze into a 16inch perspex box, with a basketball in tow. Not to be outdone, the beautiful and graceful Betty
Brawn Strong Lady will shatter gender clichés by performing exhilarating demonstrations of strength such as lifting two volunteers from the crowd. Catch Jump Stilts Extreme, a bionic duo of professional stilt jumpers who will somersault and perform tricks of the highest level. Meet Pancho Libre from Mexico who defies gravity on a cyr wheel and hangs high above the crowds on a pole. Guinness World Record holder and escapologist Rob Roy Collins returns to the festival with a brand new ‘escape from chains’ routine. For selfie lovers, look out for The Tree who will be lurking around Clarke Quay.
With a plethora of world-class acts gathered at Clarke Quay, be sure to save the date during the March school holidays.
